Program Summary
DLR Prerna Broadleaf partners with children and families in the Eastern Himalayas to develop innovative school-based health programs that improve educational outcomes and maximize well-being. We believe a holistic, community-based approach to improving health can unlock human potential and create opportunities for every child to thrive.

As a member of our team you will contribute in CHHIP (Comprehensive Health and Hygiene Improvement program):

CHHIP is an innovative approach to comprehensive school health delivered by community based School Health Activists (SHAs) in rural primary schools. We are currently partnering with both Government and low-cost private schools with over 13 schools and 464 students in rural Darjeeling.

We partner with children, families, and schools in Darjeeling as we believe access to health knowledge and educational opportunity empowers communities to break down barriers to growth and development for every individual to thrive.

The three main components of our CHHIP program are to facilitate health education, access to primary health services and to create a healthy school environment.
CHHIP has made considerable gains in achieving its objectives with the partner schools of improving the overall learning environment, providing early intervention for health issues, and equipping children with the health knowledge and critical life-skills necessary to take control of their personal development.

DLR Prerna  and Broadleaf Health and Education Alliance implements the programs in Darjeeling.

What we are looking for?
We are seeking a talented and skilled professional to join our dynamic team. We envision this as a long-term relationship and are particularly interested in early-career professionals with the desire to learn and grow with us.

We are especially interested in candidates who will use this position as a launching pad towards leadership of future school child health programs.

Qualifications
·         BA/S or equivalent is required. Advanced degree in Social Work, Education Background, Child Development or other relevant field is preferred.
·         Demonstrated maturity and judgment.
·         Ability to work independently and take initiative.  Must be a quick learner, able to multi-task and self-manage tasks as assigned.
·         Desire to grow and develop as a professional.
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Must be fluent in written and spoken English.  Fluency in spoken and written Nepali highly valued.

General Position Summary

·         The Project Officer coordinates all project activities in our partner schools and communities. You will facilitate trainings, monitoring and evaluations of School Health Activists (SHAs).
·         You will supervise the SHAs and support them both during official and field-works in all the project work and activities.

Partner Communities (school administration, teachers, staff, parents and caregivers, and students)

Proposed salary: Rs 20000 to Rs 25000 pm gross salary. Final figure to be decided by DLRPrerna.
